A surge in international visitors has pushed accommodation in and around Murchison Falls National Park to full capacity, with tour operators reporting record demand.
Lodges and camps in and around Murchison Falls National Park are reporting full occupancy through August, as Uganda continues to see a steady rise in international tourist arrivals. Tour operators say demand has been particularly strong from European and North American travelers seeking wildlife and river experiences along the Nile.
The Uganda Wildlife Authority says visitor numbers to the park have grown significantly compared to the same period last year, attributing the increase to improved road access and targeted marketing campaigns abroad. Boat cruises to the base of the falls and game drives remain the park's most popular activities.
Tourism operators are calling for continued investment in infrastructure to sustain the growth, including road upgrades and expanded accommodation capacity, as the sector positions itself as one of Uganda's most promising sources of foreign exchange earnings.
